Track changes by version and language
A certification name can stay familiar while the assessed syllabus changes. Check your materials, course and appointment against the exact version. Retirement dates can differ between English and other languages.
These are the transitions we verified on October 4, 2026. Follow the official source for the latest announcement and ask your provider which appointments remain available.
Test Analyst: v3.1 to v4.0
English CTAL-TA v3.1 training and exams, including retakes, ended on May 16, 2026. Other-language availability ends on November 16, 2026. The current qualification is CTAL-TA v4.0.

If you are studying v3.1 in a non-English language, ask the provider to confirm the appointment falls within the remaining window. If switching versions, compare the learning objectives and current sample papers.
AI Testing: v1.0 to v2.0
CT-AI v2.0 replaces v1.0. English exams and training based on v1.0 remain available until April 21, 2027, and in other languages until October 21, 2027.

Do not confuse CT-AI with CT-GenAI. CT-AI focuses on testing AI-based systems. CT-GenAI focuses on using generative AI in testing. Choose by the work you want to do.
Agile: CTFL-AT and CT-ATT to CTAL-AT v2.0
ISTQB introduced CTAL-AT v2.0 and placed CTFL-AT and CT-ATT in their sunset phase. English exams, retakes and training are available until May 6, 2027, and in other languages until November 6, 2027.
Existing CTFL-AT and CT-ATT certificates stay valid. There is no automatic upgrade. CTAL-AT replaces CT-ATT with a broader qualification. ISTQB explicitly says it is not an updated CTFL-AT. Do not treat the certificates as equivalent.
The CTAL-AT prerequisite is CTFL v4.0 or a previous CTFL version. Agile experience is strongly recommended but is not a formal entry requirement.
Also known as: the directory labels the older Foundation Agile qualification CT-AT, while the transition FAQ uses CTFL-AT. The old technical qualification is also referred to as CTAL-ATT on its individual page.

Already preparing for an older Agile exam?
Ask whether you can realistically complete the chosen exam in your language before the sunset date. Compare that route with the scope and entry requirements of CTAL-AT. The right decision depends on your current preparation and learning goal, not the similarity of the acronyms.
