ISTQB exams in Germany: fees and booking

Compare GTB-authorized exam providers, check EUR charges and confirm German or English exam availability before booking.

Your member board and exam route

German Testing Board (GTB). GTB separates training, syllabus definition and examination. Its certification page names Cert-IT GmbH, GASQ Service GmbH and iSQI GmbH as authorized exam providers, and directs candidates to those providers for fees and dates. A training provider may arrange an exam, but you should still identify the examination body and the offer’s exact terms.

This is an independent guide. We do not take bookings or payments, issue certificates or represent the board or exam provider.

Cert-IT publishes this charge for a Certified Tester exam without a course and says certificate issuance is included. Confirm its applicability to your exact CTFL version and delivery method at booking. This is a provider example, not a national fixed price.

Cert-IT also publishes a first Advanced-registration admission charge of EUR 50.00 excluding VAT (EUR 59.50 including VAT). Confirm whether it applies to your booking. Do not add it to every provider’s quote.

Choose your delivery method

Compare the actual format each provider offers for your certification: remote, test-center or an arranged session. GTB’s provider list does not guarantee that all three offer every syllabus in every format. Check current appointment availability, identity rules and technical requirements with the provider you choose.

  • Check whether the stated EUR amount includes VAT. Compare the complete payable price rather than a net price with another provider’s gross price.
  • Confirm whether an Advanced booking has a separate eligibility or admission charge, especially on your first Advanced registration.
  • Choose the language and syllabus version together. A translated syllabus may have its own document revision, and a provider may still list retiring exams alongside current ones.

Exam language, extra time and adjustments

Cert-IT says its ISTQB exams are offered in German and English. Verify your chosen certification and appointment. Other providers’ availability must be checked separately. GTB publishes examination procedures, including additional-time and adjustment processes. Arrange the provider’s approval and evidence requirements before the exam.

Read the certification guide for the standard format and prerequisite rules. A longer approved duration or an adjustment should appear in the provider’s confirmation. Resolve a mismatch before the exam.

A practical booking checklist

  1. Choose the certification and syllabus version, and confirm that the provider offers it in your requested language.
  2. Check entry requirements. For an Advanced exam, supply your CTFL certificate and confirm any practical-experience evidence with the provider.
  3. Follow the official board booking route and choose the correct country, currency and delivery method.
  4. Get the final price and read voucher validity, retake, cancellation and rescheduling terms before purchase.
  5. Reserve the appointment using the provider’s instructions. Confirm local time, identity-document requirements, approved adjustments and either center details or remote setup.
  6. Save the confirmation and receipt. Complete any required system check and contact the provider early if instructions are missing.

For the wider process, follow how to book an ISTQB exam. Purchasing an exam voucher and scheduling its appointment can be separate steps.

Rescheduling, cancellation and retakes

Use the terms attached to your actual provider offer. Check the notice period, change charges, no-show consequences, voucher expiry and refund conditions. A rescheduling rule from another country or provider may not apply.

A retake is a new exam attempt. Do not assume it is included in your initial payment. Ask about the price, any waiting period and the expiry or eligibility of a retake package.

If your syllabus is retiring, check the last exam date for your language and whether it also limits a retake. The retake guide explains what to check.

Results and certificates

Use the examination body named on your Germany confirmation for results, certificate access and name corrections. Turnaround times vary by provider, and we have not verified one for every Germany route.
